Statement of Goals And Objectives
My name is Madison Abigail Jones, and I am a singer-songwriter, guitarist, classically trained soprano, and independent music artist from Ayden, North Carolina. In the past two years, I have recorded two albums of my original songs, working with a professional recording studio in Raleigh, North Carolina. My undergraduate studies at Meredith College introduced me to an array of possibilities as a performer. I have performed my original songs across Raleigh, performed with the North Carolina Opera and the White Iris Light Opera, collaborated as a guest artist with the Triangle String Orchestra, performed with the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra as a Concerto Aria winner, and released original music on various streaming platforms. Exposing myself to various genres of music during my studies has contributed to my personal writing and brought me the courage to challenge myself in new ways as an artist. After graduation, I plan to begin my graduate education at Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain, as I take the next steps towards my ultimate aspiration of being a professional singer-songwriter and producer. Since I began my journey as an independent recording artist, I have worked diligently toward achieving my goals with the aim of making my new projects distinct while also evolving musically, creatively, and stylistically. With the two EPs I've written, recorded, and produced, I've expanded the boundaries of my writing to distinguish my new EP from my debut EP. When I begin my graduate studies, I would like to create a complete video album of original songs that I have written and recorded to expand my musicality and push my writing style beyond my current comfort zone. I will be engaging in academic research and writing in genres that are distinct from my previous work. Creating a video album would enrich my artistry, deepen the storytelling aspect of my songwriting, and offer a more immersive cinematic atmosphere for my audience. I aim to release a new album every one to two years. Writing a full album will provide the necessary experience to achieve this goal. Beginning my graduate studies in the Contemporary Performance program at Berklee Valencia’s Campus, I will be able to approach my goals with confidence, which will contribute to my growth as an artist and allow me to accomplish more than I could on my own.

Vignettes: The Letters From George to Evelyn
As a prerequisite of my undergraduate music degree, I performed a junior recital. One of my favorite sets in this recital was Vignettes: The Letters from George to Evelyn from the Private Papers of a World War II Bride, composed by Alan Louis Smith. This set was inspired by the heartfelt letters exchanged between Evelyn Semenza and First Lieutenant George W. Honts. Evelyn shared these letters with Alan Louis Smith, who went on to compose this poignant set. This set may be one of the most emotionally taxing sets I have had the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience. Visit the Videos tab to explore additional performances similar to this one.

Sophomore Recital
During my sophomore year of college, I performed a recital showcasing repertoire that I had learned during my freshman and sophomore years. This occasion gave me the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience, allowing me to share my growth as a musician.

Junior Recital
During my junior year of college, I had the opportunity to perform a recital that showcased the repertoire I had learned throughout the year. This recital took listeners deep into the art of storytelling, encouraging the audience to embark on an emotional journey that encompassed love, passion, joy, fear, loss, pain, suffering, and remembrance. This repertoire served as a profound source of inspiration for me as both a performer and an artist. It was, by far, some of the most emotionally challenging yet rewarding material I had ever performed.
